FutureVoltaics S.L. is a spin-off of the Institute of Micro and Nanotechnology of the Spanish National Research Council. We are developing VECTHOR, a new photovoltaic system optimised for maximum production at times of high energy demand, thus minimising the need to store the energy produced and obtaining greater profitability.

Job description

We want to make photovoltaic solar energy more affordable and manageable by producing more power when needed the most. With this objective, FutureVoltaics is looking for an entrepreneurial-minded Chief Scientific Officer to join our team.

The Role

You will lead the scientific strategy, research, and development initiatives working with the executive team to ensure the successful implementation of our vision and mission.

As a Chief Scientific Officer, you will be responsible for:

The leadership of an AgriVoltaics R&D project coordinating three research institutions and two private companies.
R&D support activities within FutureVoltaics.
Technology enhancement: help to improve FutureVoltaics products and identify cost reduction strategies.
Sourcing, modification and testing of reflective and structural materials.
Sourcing and testing of photovoltaic solar panel modules.
Monitor the performance of photovoltaic systems.
Communication with the customer. Reporting on the performance of the facilities at regular intervals as agreed upon.
Pitch deck at events to attract funding and new clients.

Requirements

We are looking for an entrepreneurial-minded Chief Scientific Officer with the following skills and competences:

PhD in Physical sciences, chemistry, math, computer science or engineering.
Essential to have completed a doctoral thesis, during which active participation in research projects occurred.
A good level of proficiency in programming languages such as C++ will be valued (Matlab, Python, etc.).
Proficiency in Spanish and English. Mandarin and Cantonese are a plus.
Ideally a background in the energy sector or/and interested in learning about a new technology encompassing engineering, agro-biotechnology, physics, renewable energy sources, business, and management.
The ability to create and operate a rapidly developing company, driven by ambitious goals with a “can-do” mentality. Creative (thinks in terms of solutions), flexible and team worker.
